The Chinese path to modernization aims to meet the expectations of the people, it requires the pursuit of the dream of achieving rejuvenation and it exerts influence upon the world with a global vision, said Qu Yingpu, publisher and editor-in-chief of China Daily.

Qu made the comments when addressing the Vision China session on Wednesday about his ideas on the Chinese path to modernization.

This concept was enshrined in the report delivered at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China last month. It has grabbed global attention and is viewed as an important concept for decoding the Chinese path and envisioning China's future.

Speaking about the target of the Chinese path to modernization, Qu noted that the concept upholds the people-centered philosophy of development.

"People" stands out as a keyword throughout the report, such as "put the people first", and some foreign media organizations have commented that every ambition and goal of the CPC is all about the people, he noted.

"Winning the fight against poverty as scheduled, holistically managing both the epidemic response and economic and social development, meeting the people's ever-growing need for a better life — all these efforts honor the tenets of the Party and the government: that is, 'serving the people'," he said.

Elaborating on the approach of the Chinese path to modernization, Qu said the Chinese path to modernization "is a natural choice for marching toward rejuvenation", because "it is the common pursuit of various countries to achieve modernization".

China is working to achieve modernization for more than 1.4 billion people, and "this is a task of unparalleled difficulty and complexity. It inevitably means that our pathways for development and methods of advancement will be unique," he added.

"The CPC writes new chapters in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times, and charts the Chinese path to modernization."

Qu highlighted the need for "a global vision" when envisioning the implications of the Chinese path to modernization, as the concept and efforts to realize it will offer "more Chinese wisdom, Chinese solutions and Chinese strength to the world".

The CPC "is also a party that pursues progress for humanity and common good for the whole world", he said. The Party works to absorb and draw from the essence of other human civilizations, and it embarks on exchanges and mutual learning of experiences in development with other countries, he added.

By pursuing the Chinese path to modernization, the CPC "is blazing a great trail and providing a new choice for mankind to realize modernization", he said.
