In the post-pandemic era, health has become a very hot topic and insurance products have gained rapid growth in China, said Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher at the Hurun Report, adding the Chinese insurance industry has registered 6.5 percent growth in premium income year-on-year, reaching 2.7 trillion yuan ($398.81 billion).

The insurance agencies are a major channel to sell insurance products, he said. Premium incomes generated from these agencies have accounted for more than 80 percent of total premium incomes for many years, Hoogewerf said.

The separation of insurance products and the sale of them is the major trend for the insurance industry. Currently, China has over 700 nationwide professional insurance agencies, nearly 70 percent of which have been qualified for online sales, the chief researcher added.

Hurun Research Institute released its first Hurun China Digital Insurance Agencies 2020 report on Wednesday, ranking online insurance agencies in China for the past two years based on market power and innovative ability.
