"Sports-related Eye Injuries", the world's first professional work on the subject, has been published by Springer, an internationally-renowned publishing group.

This book is the first professional book on sports-related eye injuries in the world. It introduces the current consensus on sports-related eye injuries and some controversial issues. For example, the classification and mechanisms of sports-related eye injuries; sports-related injuries of the anterior segment, posterior segment, and ocular adnexal; injury prevention and the application of protective devices in sports-related eye injuries; and more. It also discusses sideline evaluations of injured players and guidelines on returning to play.

Hua Yan

It was written by Professor Hua Yan. Yan, vice president of the Asian Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society, and President of Tianjin Medical University, is a leading figure in the field of eye trauma in China.

National participation in sports and fitness activities has been growing rapidly in China, but with that has come an increase in sports-related eye injuries.

Studies pointed out that more than one-third of blindness after trauma was related to sports. This finding aroused widespread concern in society about sports-related eye injuries.

However, there was still a lack of professional books on the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related eye injuries in the world. In that context, the publication of "Sports-related Eye Injuries" appears to be timely and extremely important.

The publication of this book not only enables sports enthusiasts to increase their awareness of injury prevention, but also guides ophthalmologists in the treatment of patients with sports-related eye injuries.

Next, Professor Hua Yan will lead a research team to conduct more in-depth explorations in the field of sports-related eye injuries, to propose more targeted prevention and treatment methods, and lay the foundation for the formulation of China's sports-related eye injuries prevention and control regulations, which in turn will provide health protection for sportspeople and society more widely.
