Commissioner of Chinese foreign ministry confident in Hong Kong reviving again
HONG KONG -- The Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Xie Feng said he is confident in the "one country, two systems" more than ever and believes Hong Kong will restore order and revive again.
As the "one country, two systems" principle has become reality over the past 22 years, Hong Kong has maintained prosperity and stability, with various undertakings in steady development, Xie said on Thursday at the spring reception of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR.
Since the first day of its return to China, Hong Kong has integrated into the national governance system and stepped onto a broad path of common development with the whole country, Xie said.
Hong Kong is an integral part of China and any attempt to separate Hong Kong from China is wishful thinking, Xie said.
Despite the unrest that has lasted for seven months, Hong Kong will go through the chaos, restore order and achieve another success under the "one country, two systems," Xie said.
